Twitter index: World Music Day, Windows Phone 8

Mircobloggers around the world are wishing each other a "Happy World Music Day" and buzzing about the recently unveiled Windows Phone 8 platform on Thursday, June 21.

World Music Day or Fête de la Musique is a worldwide celebration of musical talent that takes place every year on June 21. The event began in France in 1982 and has since spread to cities in more than 100 countries around the world, with professional and amateur musicians alike taking to the streets for mostly free performances lasting long into the night. Ninth-placed trend "Dia de la Musica" is a Spanish phrase meaning "Day of Music," also related to Fête de la Musique.

Twitter users are also excited about the recently unveiled Windows Phone 8 mobile platform, which adds support for multicore processors, higher screen resolutions and newer wireless technologies such as Near Field Communication.
