29 Jan – The oldest member of Taiwanese pop group S.H.E, Ella is set to marry her Malaysia-born boyfriend, Alvin Lai, a marketing assistant at the L'Oreal Group based in Taiwan this year following the footsteps of her band-mate, Selina Jen.
The couple had been dating for the last 5 years, but apparently their decision only came together late last year. During their courting period, Ella's trademark short hair had been grown long, and her boy-ish character changed to be more subtle and much more feminine.
Reports say that Alvin had planned to propose to Ella about a year into courting, but had changed his mind at the opinion of Ella's mother who said it was too soon.
The two were spotted furniture-shopping last week and Alvin was seen spending a night at Ella's home.
On a Weibo blog post by the 31-year-old pop princess, she posted, "Holding hands, treasuring the present, I am very happy! Yes, I ... am finally getting married. The marriage rumors have been around for some time, I am very thankful for everyone's concern. Here, I'd like to announce and share the good news. This year, I am really getting married. I hope everyone will meet their true love, then treasure and cherish one another."
Her 35-year-old fiancée also posted back on his Weibo blog that he's truly in love with the pop star, "I'm lucky. I cherish. I will give you eternal happiness, love you," he posted.
The soon-to-be-wedded pair have yet to set their wedding date. However, Ella's record label denied the rumors, saying the singer has a full working schedule this year and won't have time to get married.
