China's Premier Wen Jiabao will attend a China-EU summit next week, Beijing announced Friday, as the eurozone crisis shows signs of further impacting the world's second-largest economy.
Wen will be seeking to boost ties between the European Union and China "under the new circumstances" during the 15th China-EU Summit, which is being held from September 19-20, an official said.
"The two sides will exchange views in an in-depth manner on upgrading China-EU practical cooperation and deepening the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership under the new circumstances," foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said.
"Against the backdrop of the continuing international financial crisis and the European debt issue, the meeting will be important to China-EU relations and will send a positive signal in promoting strong, sustainable and balanced world economic growth."
Wen recently told German leader Angela Merkel that China would continue to invest in the European Union, as the nearly three-year-old crisis continues to drag on global trade.
However, China last week voiced anger over an EU decision to launch an anti-dumping investigation after it received evidence that showed Chinese solar panels had "substantial adverse effects on the financial situation of the Union industry".
