A worker fell to his death at a Sengkang West Way worksite on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said the worker, part of a team of four workers, was plastering a wall located on the roof when he fell through a wall opening.

He was working under Chiu Teng Contruction Co Pte Ltd to construct four blocks of 27-storey Housing Development Board (HDB) public residential housing and a 4-storey multi-storey carpark.

The worker subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said they received a call on Tuesday at 10.20am requesting for assistance. Upon arrival, the body of a 32-year-old man was found lying motionless at the foot of a building. The man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Officers from MOM’s Occupational Safety and Health Inspectorate responded immediately and were on-site to carry out investigations, MOM said.

The occupier has been instructed to stop all plastering work on the roof as well as all work from height. Investigations are currently on-going, they added.
