Taiwanese newbie actor Mark Chao took home the Best Actor award at the recent Taiwanese Golden Bell Awards for his role in drama series, Black & White. Tongues have been wagging about his win as his father is said to be on good terms with the judging panel.
To add on to this controversy, Chao was recently rumoured to be on bad terms with his father. The pair just shot a coffee commercial for a convenience store, however, only Mark was invited to attend the press conference and this sparked off disharmony rumours between father and son.
"This is a business-related activity. Yes, we only invited him [Mark]. He is an ambassador of our coffee. We invited him to be a manager for a day and serve coffee to the members of the public present," said a public relations personnel of the convenience store.
A representative from Mark's company shared, "The contract was signed separately. That will also be the only event that Mark will be attending. After the event, he will return to Canada for a holiday."
In an interview with Mark's father, the older Chao shed some light on the controversy surrounding his son's win at the Golden Bell Awards, "I did not talk to him about this matter. I hope that he can digest it. I am waiting for him to approach me and say, "Dad, I am not happy.""
