Edmund Chen's son has plans to enter showbiz

Local artiste Edmund Chen first made his acting debut 20 years ago. The actor currently has his sights set on entering the overseas market. Since his contract with MediaCorp ended last year, Edmund has participated in various overseas productions including the Hollywood movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li.

At a recent interview held with the father of two at Pro-Teach education center, Edmund revealed that his son has plans to follow in his footsteps and pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

"However, the entertainment industry is a sort of skill, something that can only be found through accident and not through seeking. You may unwittingly get results, or you may work really hard and not get anything in return. Everyone will get different experiences. If you have this ideal, you should pursue it. At the end of everything, you may discover another kind of talent."

Contrary to popular belief, Edmund welcomes the possibility of having his entire family be involved in showbiz, "It might be more enjoyable to have the entire family do the same things. Family are the people you love the most, you would wish to have more time to spend together, to do the same things and to interact with each other. This is a highly commendable thing."

Despite that, Edmund does not believe in paving a way for his son, "If you want it, you must know how to fight for it. It depends on fate. When the chance is here, it is his."

An open-minded parent, Edmund does not believe that the entertainment industry will exert negative influences over his son. "Every industry has its pros and cons. It depends on how you look upon it and how you work things out."
