Your wedding is finally here – and you’re getting really nervous. Don't be: Just grab some slippers and relax with a cup of green tea (which is full of health-benefiting antioxidants, by the way), because with these tips you will look and feel fresh, fabulous and confident walking down the aisle.
The night before:- Wash your hair. Hair actually holds a style better when it’s not freshly washed. Prep your luscious locks for your bridal ‘do by blow-drying the night before with a light fixative. Try AVEDA Confixor.
- Calm your skin with a soothing mask to reduce redness and inflammation. Try Dermalogica Ultra-Calming Mask.
- Exfoliate and hydrate your body. Try The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub followed by Johnson Melt Away Stress Calming Lotion with Lavender and Chamomile.
- Manicure your nails and pamper your hands. You’d be amazed at how the hands and nails are often overlooked. Remember, he liked them and put a ring on it! Your hand holding that newly planted rock will also be photographed a lot. Try OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil-to-Go and L’Occitane en provence Lavender hand cream.
First thing in the morning:
- Soothe tired eyes. Do you have red eyes? Eyedrops soothe sensitive eyes as well as reduces redness to make them appear bigger and brighter. Try Visine Tired Eye Relief.
- Prep your skin with lots of hydration. Tip: Store your creams in the fridge the night before, so when you apply them in the morning, the coolness can help calm and reduce puffy skin. It’s an excellent habit to keep for your eye cream. Try Sampar Eye Rule – the cool rollerball feels like heaven on puffy eyebags.
- Apply a shimmering cream to all exposed body parts once you wear your gown for a glam finishing touch. Don’t forget your décolletage! Try Palmer’s ALL OVER SHIMMER Body Gloss.
For emergencies, carry a touch-up kit:
- A pack of oil-absorbing blot film. Most women overuse powder, which can make you look chalky in photos. Start by using blot film; and if you still need a little dusting of powder, use a translucent one only on the T-zone. Remember, a little glow is nice in photos. If you are naturally oily, stay clear of shimmery products as they will have you looking shinier than normal. Try Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets.
- A powder sunscreen protects skin and is convenient, as you can apply it over makeup – which means you can reapply it throughout the day! Try iS Clinical Powder Sunscreen, a sheer formula with mattifying properties too.
- Cotton buds and tissue are must-haves for fixing smudges and tears.
- Extra bobby pins and a purse-sized hairspray, because you never know if you will need to stick a pin in.
- A light sewing kit just like the ones found in hotels have a sample of every colour of thread.
And for moral support: Have your back-up Act like a celeb and make sure you have your people. Flowers didn’t show up? Flower girl having a temper tantrum? [Soon to be] Mother-in-law freaking you out? Bridezilla trying to take over? Have a trusty BFF or bridal planner on hand at all times, who can take control if need be.
