'Take action' this October for breast cancer awareness

The decades-long quest to cure cancer

According to the American Cancer Society, about one out of five men with breast cancer have a close male or female relative with the disease.

ACS research also shows that breast cancer is about 100 times less common among men than among women.

These are some of the facts fleshed out by Estee Lauder for their latest Breast Cancer Awareness campaign (BCA Campaign), which is happening from 1 to 31 October this year.

Landmark to ‘turn pink’ for BCA Campaign

In a press release, the global cosmetics company said their latest campaign aims to enhance breast cancer awareness by encouraging people to take action.  It also marks the company’s 20 years of commitment to the cause.

Estee Lauder says the campaign invites people to show how they take action on BCAcampaign.com and social media channels, and support lifesaving breast cancer research by making a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

In Singapore, a landmark will be illuminated in pink “to focus attention on the importance of breast health and early detection”, the company said in the release.

The light-up will take place on 30 September.

“In Singapore, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Our colleagues are very committed to build breast cancer awareness amongst women of all ages and different ethnicities through the BCA Campaign,” said managing director Lisa Chow.
