'The Brady Bunch' vs. 'The Addams Family': Vote for the Best TV Theme Songs

It's '70s sunshine versus creepy and kooky in Round 1 of Yahoo! TV's Theme Song Thunderdome.

With March Madness in full swing, we decided to do a TV-themed bracket of our own: a no-holds-barred tournament to determine the best TV theme song of all time. After lots of heated debate, we've selected and ranked 32 of the most memorable TV theme songs ever, pitting them against each other in a winner-takes-all bracket. Over the next few weeks, we're asking you to vote for your favorite theme songs until we get a winner -- and a few songs stuck in your heads.

(4) "The Brady Bunch"

"The Brady Bunch" rang in the groovy 1970s with a playful and wholesome blended-family vibe that had an equally groovy theme song to match. Does anyone not know the words to this earworm? The lyrics were written by creator and producer Sherwood Schwartz -- who also wrote the theme for another of his famous series, "Gilligan's Island."

For Seasons 2 through 5 (the final season), the lyrics were sung by Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, Christopher Knight, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen -- otherwise known as Greg, Peter, Bobby, Marcia, Jan, and Cindy. It's been nearly 40 years since the series finale aired, but "The Brady Bunch" and its theme song are far from forgotten.

(13) "The Addams Family"

Or do you prefer something a little more ooky and spooky? Before the Bradys, another ABC TV family made their mark, and it was much more macabre. "The Addams Family" only aired from 1964-66, but its lasting impression generated hit movies -- not to mention a theme song that is actually more popular than the original series. The dark comedy, based on Charles Addams's New Yorker cartoons, had an opening theme that's kept fans snapping their fingers for almost half a century. In the middle of the tune, you'll hear actor Ted Cassidy -- who played "Lurch" on the series -- interject with the words "neat," "sweet," and "petite."
