IPOH: A man was killed while another was injured in an accident involving an express bus and a car at a traffic light junction in Parit Buntar, about 127km from here early yesterday.
In the accident at 5.28am, the driver of a Proton Wira died at the scene, while his passenger was injured in the leg.
Senior Fire Officer II, at the Parit Buntar Fire and Rescue Station, Abdull Halim Mansor, said the two victims were taken to the Parit Buntar Hospital.
"It is understood that the Proton Wira, which was travelling from Penang to Taiping, collided with the express bus, which was en route to Parit Buntar, resulting in the two people in the car being sandwiched in the wreckage.
"However, the bus driver and his passengers were safe," he said in a media statement.
Nine fire and rescue personnel were involved in the rescue operation which was completed at 6.46am, said Abdull Halim. -- BERNAMA
