Sid's drug-dealing cousin Jordan has started to make his presence felt in the village, forcing the teen to hide ketamine for him and also putting on a show of respectability in front of Leela.

Jordan makes his intentions clear next week when he tells Sid that he intends to make the Hollyoaks village his new "playground" for criminal activity. He starts as he means to go on by asking Sid to sell drugs to his friends.

2. Nancy shares her baby news

It's time for a deep clean at The Hutch, which leads to a comical misunderstanding when Nancy confuses Darren for Kyle while they're all dressed in hazmat suits.

Once everyone is clear about who's who again, Nancy takes the opportunity to share her pregnancy news with her friends. She reassures Mandy that the baby is Kyle's, not Darren's. However, Darren is still visibly affected by Nancy's big news.

3. Nancy is stabbed at the school

Life at Hollyoaks High takes a sinister turn when pregnant Nancy tries to break up a fight in the school playground and gets stabbed. The incident is expected to tie in with County Lines drug dealing, which will become a major problem in the village this year.

News of Nancy's stabbing sends shockwaves through the local community. Sally is left fielding calls from worried parents at the school, while Marnie, Misbah and Leela suggest a meeting to reassure everyone.

4. PC George Kiss arrives

The unexpected drama in the school playground also leads to the arrival of Hollyoaks' newest policeman, George Kiss. George, played by new cast member Callum Kerr, will be playing a big role in the County Lines story this year.

Callum recently told Digital Spy: "George is the first officer on the scene, but the paramedics are already there. He has to try to understand what's going on very quickly.

"George takes control of the situation immediately. It's a really nice way to be introduced, showing him as someone who's trustworthy and who can take control of a dangerous situation. I think there'll be a lot of those, over the course of the next year."

5. James hits rock bottom

In the aftermath of Donna-Marie's drug overdose, Juliet keeps her distance from her family and sleeps at the Lomax flat. Romeo blames James for pushing her away, but his home truths make matters worse by sending James on a downward spiral.

Marnie asks John Paul to help her to get James back on track. John Paul is concerned to find James on the floor of the village drinking wine. When John Paul takes James back to The Dog flat, they end up in bed together.

6. Jordan gets up to no good

Jordan continues to cause trouble by taking Sid and Juliet to a pub on his estate. Juliet shows that she's not to be messed with when she gives one of Jordan's friends, Mason, a run for his money.

Sid is worried that Juliet is in danger and warns her not to mess with people like Mason. He's pleased when Jordan encourages Juliet to go home – has the villain done enough to fool his cousin that he's looking out for them?

7. Maxine is oblivious to Liam's intentions

Maxine gets on well at the club as she continues to entertain Liam's dodgy friend Clayton, although things get awkward when Damon turns up.

Later, Maxine is overwhelmed when Liam rewards her with a wad of cash. She desperately needs the money, but is unaware that Liam's intentions aren't good.

Darren suggests that glamorous new couple Toby and Celeste should come on a night out with him and Mandy. Toby fears this can't end well, since Mandy's memories of them buying her silence on the night her drink was spiked could return at any time.

Despite this, Celeste approaches Mandy with a modelling opportunity and asks her to get a portfolio together. Are the Faroes playing with fire?

9. Darren is troubled

Darren's depression storyline is one to watch this year and we see more glimpses next week that he's struggling. The village joker appears to be the life and soul of the party during a gathering, but there's something troubling him beneath the surface.

After an emotional week in the village, Tony, Luke and Kyle all get together and talk about how they're feeling, but Darren tries to be strong and keeps quiet.

Mitchell still hasn't told his grandfather the truth about his sexuality, especially after his recent dating disaster. When Walter spots Mitchell feeling low, he takes matters into his own hands but may well make matters worse.

Walter tries to set up Mitchell with eligible, single ladies that he knows from the church. It's the last thing Mitchell needed – will it all end in tears?

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
