10-year-old child feared drowned in Ampang

AMPANG: A 10-year-old child is feared dead after he fell into a river at Kampung Tengah here yesterday night.

Ampang Fire and Rescue Department chief Ariff Mohamed Kassim said they received an emergency call at 7.55pm.

“A team of six firemen were deployed to the scene and arrived five minutes later.

“When they arrived, the child was already fished out of the river by members of the public.

“However, the victim was unconscious,” he told the New Straits Times Press when contacted today.

Ariff said the firemen performed CPR on the child until a team of paramedics arrived.

“The child did not wake up even after the CPR. He has been rushed to the nearest hospital,” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
