Throw in some stunning sea views? Instant win. Try beachfront café Colleens in La Greve de Lecq, on the north coast, for fantastically crisp fish and chips the locals love, or head into the capital St. Helier for fine dining.

2. Relax in beautiful gardens

Elegant public gardens dotted across the island make Jersey a nature lover's dream. One of the most famous is the Botanic Gardens at Samarès Manor, created in the 1920s by Sir James Knott with various areas, including an aromatic herb garden and tranquil Japanese garden.

It’s the ideal spot to enjoy a bit of ‘me-time’ and practice being mindful in beautiful surroundings.

3. Enjoy afternoon tea

Jersey is famous for its deliciously creamy gold top milk, and its clotted cream is even more of a rich treat. That makes afternoon tea on the island a serious affair, with thick butter alongside the traditional jam and cream, plus classy finger sandwiches to start.

Exploring a fascinating museum at your own pace is one of life’s great pleasures, so it’s the perfect activity when you’re holidaying by yourself. The Jersey Museum & Art Gallery in St. Helier tells the island’s intriguing story from its earliest settlement 250,000 years ago to its life as a British crown-protectorate.

It’s now an interactive museum that tells the tale of this dark period in Jersey’s history in a captivating way. You’ll leave with plenty of interesting stories to tell friends and family when you get back home.

7. Venture out to the mighty Elizabeth Castle

Built out on a tidal island off the coast from St. Helier during the late 1500s to protect against invading ships, Elizabeth Castle might look hard to reach when the tide’s high.
