Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City fans, the wait is nearly over. The BBC medical drama will be back on the box in November, after three long months off air.

The Holby team have been back filming new episodes since July, and by the looks of things, it's going to be more than worth the wait. Here are ten new teasers for the show's return:

1. Max takes centre stage in coronavirus episode

Holby will be hitting the ground running upon its return, with a groundbreaking coronavirus special, which sees the pandemic explored through the eyes of CEO Max McGerry and her team.

The scenes will see Max (Jo Martin) wrestling to "keep the hospital in control and her staff safe" as coronavirus takes hold.

But as the task at hand proves to be bigger than anyone could have imagined, it begins to take its toll on Max and her Holby City staff.

Max will also face an obstacle in the form of her old ally Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie) – who, unsurprisingly, no longer trusts her after his ordeal with her unstable ex Guy Self.

2. Ric's big shock

Ric is still in a coma when we catch up with the Holby team next month, oblivious to the rapidly changing world around him.

When Ric does eventually wake up following his brain surgery (because you didn't really think Holby would kill him off like that, did you), he's shocked to discover that life is vastly different to how it was when he went under.

Ric also isn't convinced that Max has what it takes to take control of the situation, but could he be right?

3. Ric's exit

Ric's journey in the coronavirus scenes is a powerful one that will move you to tears.

Holby bosses have already confirmed that Hugh Quarshie is bowing out of his role as Ric, after a whopping 19 years on the show, but details about the exact nature of his exit story are being kept under wraps for now.

Speaking about his exit, Hugh said: "I came very close to quitting acting entirely before being invited to join Holby City. I had felt unfulfilled and that I never quite fitted in. Holby City changed all that.

"The work became absorbing, colleagues became friends. I wouldn't have stayed so long if it hadn't been a great place to work, and leaving will be like leaving home – a place where there is warmth and a welcome, a place to which you can always return…"

4. Cameron continues to scheme

Before Holby went off air, Cameron was taking centre stage in one of the show's biggest stories of the year – and fear not – that certainly hasn't been forgotten.

Cameron is definitely not in his element during the pandemic, but is determined not to let this diminish his sense of entitlement to one of the top positions in the hospital. Nor does he leave his devious antics to his professional life, as we've heard some whispers that Cameron's questionable relationship with Nicky will be taking a dark turn later in the year.

But is Nicky the only doctor on the ward who catches conniving Cameron's eye? Here's a clue: nope.

5. Sacha's behaviour sparks concern

Fans will be greeted by a very different Sacha when the show returns next month, and it's not long before his out-of-character behaviour becomes a cause for concern.

Grief-stricken following Essie's tragic death on their wedding day, Sacha has given away baby Isla and is full of resentment for his late partner.

As Sacha rejects help from his nearest and dearest, he makes another shocking move that will have far-reaching consequences and rock his colleagues to the core. And trust us, you won't see this one coming. Actually, if you check back here from next Tuesday, then maybe you will...

6. Ange and Fletch to split?

Some fans may have noticed a bit of subtle tension between Ange and Fletch in the show's last episode back in August, and that was absolutely intentional.

This will be touched on meaningfully when Holby returns, as Ange starts to wonder if Fletch wants to be with her at all.

On the back of Essie's death, and his own cancer ordeal, it appears that Fletch has been undertaking some major soul-searching around what he wants his future to look like. But is Ange in it, or not?

7. Donna meets a face from the past

She's had the year from hell, and when Donna sees an unwelcome friend at the hospital, she's left even more torn over her feelings.

As the show delves back into Zav's untimely death earlier in the year, there's a chance that Donna may have found someone who can finally share her grief. But why is she so resistant to his charms? And could this new friendship help her move forward?

8. Jac and Kian hit the rocks

This was never going to be smooth sailing, but Jac and Kian's romance is set to hit even more hurdles over the coming months.

As they pursue their secret relationship, Jac and Kian will be pushed to the limits when his addiction relapse begins to spiral out of control. Will they make it through this? Or will Jac fall at the first hurdle?

9. Three new faces

While Holby fans will be saying a sad farewell to show stalwart Ric, there will be some fresh faces in the department as a new wave of F1 doctors join the team.

Josh Hudson (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge), Jeong Soo-Han (Chan Woo Lim) and Skylar Bryce (Phoebe Pryce) are the newest batch of junior doctors to take on the challenges of the wards. The trio will be hitting your screens over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

10. Meet Jodie

Last but certainly not least, we have the arrival of Jodie – played by former Emmerdale star Sian Reese-Williams.

Troubled Jodie will have a major impact on grieving Sacha's life in a dark new storyline that will be playing out for the rest of the year. She'll be making her first appearance in the show's return episode on November 10, so keep your eyes peeled...

Holby City returns to screens on Tuesday, November 10 at 8.15pm on BBC One.
