SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Tuesday (3 August) reported 102 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, taking the country's total case count to 65,315.

There are 98 new locally transmitted infections, of whom 31 are unlinked. The ministry did not provide a breakdown of how many of them are in the community or are dormitory residents.

Among the local cases are seven cases above the age of 70 who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and are at risk of serious illness.

Also detected were four imported infections, of whom three were detected upon arrival here, while one developed the illness during their stay-home notice or isolation period.

Eight new COVID-19 clusters linked to a total of 28 cases were announced on Tuesday, of which six are named after case numbers of COVID-19 patients. The other two are linked to Changi General Hospital and Kian Hiap Construction.

The MOH did not provide any details on the cases the clusters are named after. Separately, it also announced the closure of the "Case 64388" cluster, linked to three cases, bringing the total number of active clusters here to 100.

On Tuesday, 22 new cases were added to Singapore's largest cluster at the Jurong Fishery Port, now linked to 1,097 cases.

No new infections were added to the second-largest cluster, linked to various KTVs, which has 251 cases. Separately, one case was added to the cluster at Westlite Mandai Dormitory, which is now linked to nine infections, while two were added to the cluster at the Marina Bay Sands Casino, now linked to 58.

The MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 967 in the week before to 799 in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 173 in the week before to 254 in the past week.

It added that the seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 77.9 and 36.3 respectively.

On Monday, the MOH confirmed Singapore's 38th and youngest COVID-19 related fatality, a 34-year-old man from Ukraine.

37 require oxygen supplementation; 7 in ICU

At least 63,252 cases in Singapore, or over 99 per cent of the overall total, have fully recovered from their infection and have been discharged from the hospital.

As of Tuesday, 592 cases are currently warded, most of whom are well and under observation.

There are currently 37 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation and seven in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Six among the 44 cases are fully vaccinated – four requires oxygen supplementation while two require ICU care as they have underlying medical conditions, said the MOH.

Among them are also 31 patients above the age of 60, of whom 27 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, who have fallen very ill, it added.

Apart from the 38 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.

Over the last 28 days, 66 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to the ICU, or died. Of them, 39 are unvaccinated, 21 are partially vaccinated and six are fully vaccinated.

As of Monday, about 7.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme. Some 4.32 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with some 3.51 million having completed the full vaccination regimen.

This means that 63 per cent of the population have completed their full regimen, or received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, and 77 per cent have received at least one dose.

Those who have received the Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine locally are not included in Singapore's national vaccination numbers. As of Monday, 108,815 doses of the China-made vaccine have been administered to 75,856 individuals.
