SINGAPORE — Interested in adopting a canine “veteran”?

From Monday (15 April) to 16 May, 13 veteran dogs from the SAF Military Working Dog Unit (MWDU) will be up for adoption at this year’s MWDU adoption drive, said the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) on its website.

One of them, a 9-year-old male springer spaniel, can be adopted by those living in HDB flats, under the Project Adore initiative.

All dogs have gone through basic obedience training, as well as regular health checks by in-house vets, annual vaccinations and a routine heartworm and parasite prevention programme.

“If you’re interested in making them part of your family, you can find out more in the Frequently Asked Questions and fill up the application form below. For further queries, you can contact the Adoption Team at enquire_MWDadoption@defence.gov.sg,” the ministry said.

Mindef added that the unit will continue to take full care of any retired dogs that have not been adopted.
