Malaysia-based accelerator and early-stage investor 1337 Ventures has announced the top three teams of its Philippines pre-accelerator programme Alpha Startup. They are:

1. BusTayo – A mobile-based bus ticket reservation system.

2. BetterHapp – An online wedding management tool.

3. Detivo – A Point of Sale platform for restaurants

These three startups will be awarded US$25,000 in funding, Amazon Web Services (AWS) support, and mentorship training from 1337 Ventures.

Close to 100 teams applied for this round and only 20 were selected for the 5 day programme. Out of these, 10 were selected to pitch at the Demo Day.

“We were really excited to see the level of innovative ideas being pitched for the Philippines batch. Teams were not just targeting a domestic or regional base of users but a global one with SaaS based ideas” said Bikesh Lakhmichand, CEO and founder of 1337 Ventures.
