17 best Korean BBQ restaurants in Singapore

I’m constantly searching for authentic restaurants to satisfy my Korean food cravings. I love classic bibimbap as well as spicy and cheesy tteokbokki, but nothing beats a decent Korean BBQ.

Fellow Korean food lovers, here’s a list of 17 Korean BBQ restaurants in Singapore that you should try at least once to satisfy that K-BBQ fix!

1. SEORAE

SEORAE, the authentic Korean restaurant from Seorae village in South Korea, takes the top spot on this list. They made their debut in Singapore in 2015 and currently manage 6 outlets at major shopping malls across the island.

Employing Binchotan (100% premium white charcoal) on their grills, the steady, intense heat source guarantees that each cut of meat is expertly grilled to perfection.

Their newly-launched Hangari dry-aged series is Singapore’s first ever meat fermented in Hangari pot. The series will kick off with Samgyeobsal (Duroc Chestnut Pork Belly) (S$32 for 200g) which not only possesses ideal characteristics for dry ageing, but also happens to be a top choice among Singaporean diners.

The Samgyeobsal is celebrated for its remarkable quality, succulence, and impressive marbling. The meat achieves a harmonious equilibrium between natural sweetness andsavoury richness. Due to its diet, the meat also contains higher levels of protein, healthy fatty acids and vitamins.

After extensive experimentation, the Samgyeobsal is aged within a Hangari claypot (traditionally used to ferment Korean staples like kimchi) at a controlled temperature of 3℃,  which jumpstarts the ageing process, enabling the premium pork meat to enzymatically break down more efficiently and evenly.

The result? A luxuriously melt-in-your-mouth texture and a unique taste induced with an unmatched umami depth.

This series will be exclusively offered to Seorae members starting 27 Sep 2023, for a limited duration, and a limited quantity will be allocated daily.

You can’t say you’ve visited Seorae if you haven’t ordered the signature Galmaegisal (S$23.90 for 170g). Bursting with juices and containing less fats, the US pork skirt sits in a marinade of authentic Korean spices before being hand-massaged for 30 minutes.

Formerly a delicacy reserved solely for Korean royalty, the exclusive sirloin-extension now mirrors the opulence of Wagyu beef, offering a profusion of flavours and assuring a delectable, melt-in-the-mouth indulgence.

Another noteworthy addition to the Seorae menu is the Iberico Rare-Cut Tasting Platter (S$68) which unveils a symphony of Iberico pork perfection. Hailing from the heart of Spain, these pigs lead a life enriched with oleic acid-infused diets, resulting in meat that not only dazzles with a beautiful hue but also becomes lusciously tender and has a unique flavour profile.

The luxurious platter bestows 350g of marinated Iberico pork in total, allowing guests to experience 70g of each distinct cut: the abanico, rib finger, skirt meat, jowl and pork tongue. Each of these cuts boasts its own unique marbling and guests will be able to savour the intricate interplay between texture and flavour that defines each cut.

2. Guiga Korean BBQ Restaurant

Recently, Guiga Korean BBQ Restaurant located at 134 Tanjong Pagar Road underwent a transformative renovation, completely revitalising its interior to exude a more modern and inviting ambience.

The bulk of the barbeque section revolves around beef and pork items. Expect to find higher-quality cuts such as the 400g Wagyu Dengsim (S$70) and the 150g Prime Beef Rib (S$49).

The staff helps to barbecue your meats to perfection which is fantastic for lazy folks out there. I definitely recommend the Thin Slice Beef Brisket (S$30), Marinated Pork Rib (S$24), and Soy Sauce Marinated Chicken (S$24). From experience, their dishes never lack flavour as the meats are always well-marinated.

If you’re a fan of innards, give the Pork Large Intestine (S$32) a try. For an interesting dining affair, try the Spicy Marinated Raw Crab (S$48) and Beef Tartare (S$40/S$58).

Dinnertime is prime time at Wang Dae Bak Korean BBQ at Cross Street Exchange, so it would be good to make a reservation before you head over! Apart from the cosy interior and helpful staff, the barbecued meats also deserve a mention.

The Marinated Pork Collar (S$23) and Marinated Boneless Prime Ribs (S$38) which had a minimum order of 2 sets were chewy and very juicy. The barbecued meats owed much of their flavour to the strong burning charcoal, which allowed us to cook them to the perfect doneness.

If you’re on a dinner date, choose from the following Couple Sets (for 2 pax)

  • Spanish Chestnut Duroc Pork Set (S$50)— 2cm Duroc pork belly and 2cm Duroc pork collar

  • Beef Set (S$63)— boneless prime rib, marinated prime ribs and thin sliced beef belly

  • Pork Set (S$47)— pork belly, spicy marinated pork belly and marinated pork collar

Established in 2015 at Goldhill Centre, Nanta BBQ has quickly gained a reputation for its outstanding food quality and exceptional service, as reflected in numerous positive reviews.

It was one of the first Korean BBQ establishments in Singapore that introduced a variety of Korean cuisine that was trendy amongst youngsters back in Korea. In addition, they are the one and only K-BBQ in Singapore that does spare ribs that are dry-aged, marinated, grilled, fried, and then served with 3 types of cheese.

5. Pohang Seafood & Butchery

With a name like Pohang Seafood & Butchery, one will not expect this place to serve Korean barbeque. This hidden gem is established by 2 native Koreans serving an array of fresh sashimi, seafood and even live octopus with generous portions. Although the price isn’t the cheapest around, you can be sure the quality and quantity is well worth it.

8. Super Star K

Ask any fan of Korean BBQ in Singapore about their favourite joint and you’re likely to hear Super Star K. This establishment rose from humble beginnings where they were just a small food court stall back in 2004.

This restaurant reminds me of those ajummaoperated joints located along the alleyways in downtown Seoul, especially those in Myeongdong; you’ll just eat and leave, smelling of charred meat bits.

Meats here come in pretty decent quality cuts like Seasoned Beef Ribs (S$38) and SlicedPork Belly (S$19.90), and they are also quite reasonably priced. There are also premium cuts such as the Kurobuta Black Pork Belly (S$28) and Pork Jowl (S$25).

If you aren’t a heavy eater, Super Star K is a better alternative compared to the all-you-can-eat buffets. Servers also help to grill the meats while the individual table vents reduce smoke from the grills.
