144 women, 4 men arrested in raids on public entertainment outlets
SINGAPORE — Four men and 144 women were arrested during a three-day police operation against public entertainment outlets from 22 to 24 August.
The women, aged between 19 and 41, and two of the men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested for offences under the Foreign Manpower Employment Act, said the police in a news release on Sunday (25 August).
One 27-year-old man was nabbed for obstructing a police officer from carrying out official duties, while another 24-year-old man was apprehended for employing foreigners without a work permit.
The operation, which covered areas including Jalan Besar, Beach Road, North Bridge Road, Serangoon Road and Arab Street, found 19 such outlets to have contravened licensing conditions.
Investigations against all the arrested parties are ongoing.
“Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations Public Entertainment Act,” the police said.
