18 Cheapest Places to Drink Wine in Singapore
When it comes to wine, I really don’t discriminate. Be it red, white, or sparkling, I’ll quite happily souse my liver in any variety. As the famous saying goes – I know not drinking wine each day won’t kill me but hey, why risk it? With the sky high vino prices in Singapore, I’ve had to risk it a little bit too much for my liking of late.
When I first arrived last year, I found it quite the challenge to find my favourite tipple being served at a reasonable price.There is nothing more disheartening than walking into a bar or restaurant and finding the cheapest wine available is a glass of bog standard plonk coming in at a whopping $18, or perhaps even more if you’re unlucky.
I have taken it upon myself to scour the island to find some of the best wine deals Singapore has to offer. Whilst we all know that Wine Connection is a firm fixture on the scene, when you get bored of that why not try somewhere new. At some of these places the prices are so reasonable my cup really has runneth over, long may the wine days continue…
1. Napoleon
With 32 wines available by the glass and prices starting at $10 ($8 during the daily 3-7pm happy hour), in terms of choice and quality Napoleon is hard to beat. The enomatic wine dispensers also make it easy for you to order tasting portions (from $2), or half glasses (from $4). If you know little about wine but are keen to learn, the friendly sommeliers here will help guide the way for you. A great spot for lunch or post work drinks.

2. Lin Rooftop Bar
Why not check out the latest addition to the rooftop scene at Lin Rooftop Bar. The first of it’s kind in Tiong Bahru is a cool spot for drinking al fresco. Whilst we love the decor, we heart the wine offers even more. As an opening special they are currently selling two bottles of your finest grape for $75 – yes please. Grab a few friends, pull up a pew and chat the night away whilst working your way through these excellent value bottles.

3. The Pit Restaurant & Bar
It might not be the most glamorous place on this list, but for a sneaky cheap glass of wine at a super friendly local watering hole, you can’t go wrong at The Pit in Holland Village. House pour wine is only $10 a glass. That’s not even Happy Hour prices, it’s $10 all the time. If you want something a little better than your usual chardonnay/merlot choice you can get the premium house pour which is only an extra $2. Worth it for a Malbec in my view.

4. Loof
If rooftop bars are your thing then there is no better place to down a few vino’s than Loof. The earlier you go, the cheaper your wine. At 5pm it’s $5 a glass, increasing by $1 every time the clock chimes upon the hour until 8pm when regular prices return. With wine so cheap its worth getting here early, I’m not sure you really need any further excuse to knock off work early.

5. Gem
Whilst the standard house pour here is nothing to write home about at $14, if you’ve had a particularly bad start to the week why not drown your sorrows on a Monday or Tuesday night by taking full advantage of the promo’s on offer at Gem. On ‘Cheap Bastards’ Monday’ you’ll get a whopping 50% off your total bill. On Tuesday’s house pour wine is 1 for 1. If that won’t cheer you up then nothing will.
If on the other hand you want to end your week on a high house pour wines are $8++ for ladies on a Thursday night. Now that is what I call a wine-tastic bargain.

6. Prive at Chijmes
We love sitting in the gorgeous al fresco garden in Prive at Chijmes whilst sipping a nice cool glass of vin blanc. Surrounded my luscious greenery and fairy lights, this is a beautiful spot for an afternoon drink, or two.
Happy Hour runs from 11.00am – 8.00pm where house pour Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot are a mere $11 per glass. Prive at Chijmes is the perfect sanctuary for a languorous afternoon drinking session.

7. O’Batignolles
For lovers of all things French, this cosy Parisian bistro is definitely worth a visit. Wine is directly sourced from producers ensuring quality is pretty much guaranteed, and the selection of wine by the glass is awesome. We’ve nabbed a decent glass of red here previously from as low as $7, there’s only one thing to cheers to at that price – vive le France!
For wine aficionados it’s worth checking out the regular tasting events which can also prove to be economical at 4 glasses of wine for $35++.

8. Verre Wine Bar
The philosophy here is that everyone should be able to appreciate fine wine minus the pretentious atmosphere. We couldn’t agree more and Verre is a great spot to drink a vino and watch the world go by on the river.
The selection here is good and whilst some wines are pricy, get here before 7pm during the week or before 6pm on the weekend and the 1 for 1 offer on all wine and champagne by the glass really makes it worthwhile and purse friendly.

9. Bistro 1855
With no less than 500 bottles to select from you really will be spoilt for choice at Bistro 1855. With this much choice, there are some more expensive grapes available, however, we’re a sucker for the daily happy hour (5-8pm) where selected wines go for as little as $5. We like to pick over some tapas plates and sharing boards to accompany our favourite vin rouge.
You also get to talk to the sommelier and ask for her recommendations for your palate. Retail wine prices served in a restaurant setting is what Bistro 1855 is all about.

10. No. 5 Emerald Hill
What better way to reward yourself after a hard days’ shopping than with a well earned glass of wine. At No. 5 house wines are only $10 a glass until 9pm. We love the unique interior and find throwing peanut shells on the floor strangely satisfying. Yes it gets busy here but with wine and other drinks at such low prices, I daren’t complain.

11. The Green Door
We love the chilled out garden vibes at The Green Door in Dempsey. This bar is a relaxing green sanctuary and a perfect spot for a post work wine, or a lazy afternoon weekend BBQ session. Make the most of their early bird special from 5-8pm during the week where house pour wines are only $11, the sauvignon blanc is particularly respectable.

12. KPO Cafe Bar
For those of you who enjoy a mid afternoon tipple, KPO’s happy hour starts from the moment it opens and doesn’t end until 8pm. With house wine at $10 per glass it’s probably best not to make important afternoon plans. Cafe by day and cool bar by night, we’ve often found this place can turn into a bit of a wine black hole – you’ll end up never leaving.

13. Wine Bos
Stocking wines from around the world, you will surely find something you like at Wine Bos. Whilst the regular prices are good value, you really can’t beat the daily $20 free flow window between 6-8pm. Ladies nights also offer 2 hours of free wine between 6-8pm.
Keep an eye on their Facebook page for all of the latest offers. Food here is also reasonably priced so you can line your stomach before commencing your wine-a-thon.

14. Open Farm Community
For the bubble lovers amongst us, you really can’t go wrong with the champagne countdown deal at OFC. At weekends during their brunch seating, the first glass of champagne is $24, reducing in price by $6 after every glass until you reach your fifth glass and hit the $0 jackpot. Swill it down quickly enough and you’ll be quaffing for free in no time.

15. The Pass Wine Bar & Bistro
This cute little bistro on Club Street has some great wine deals and whilst it’s not the finest tipple I’ve tried, sometimes beggars can’t be choosers. Every day between 3-8pm house pour red and white is a steal at $8, on Wednesday’s it’s $8 all night for ladies. I rarely pass by The Pass without straying in for a cheap vino fix, I prefer to sit on the terrace to watch the antics taking place on Club Street.

16. Lounge @ Hotel Jen
There is always a wine deal going at Hotel Jen and that is why I love it. Every Wednesday and Friday night they offer a great 3 hour free-flow deal. It’s $25 for ladies, and $35 for gents. Free-flow wine and prosecco on a Friday night? Perfect way to get your buzz on before you head off into the night.
Every Saturday you pay the time for your wine, from 5pm it’s $5, from 6pm it’s $6 and so on all the way to 9pm. From Sunday to Thursday they offer a buy 2 get 1 free deal. There are loads of comfy sofa’s to unwind on and a cool house DJ spinning the latest tunes de jour. This really is wino heaven.

17. Wine Connection Bar & Bistro
We can’t very well miss out one of the most popular affordable wine joints in Singapore now, can we? Offering an extensive wine list with 20-30 varieties of wine by the glass, Wine Connection’s various locations are a great spot for gathering with colleagues after work for a spot of vino. A glass of wine can be as cheap as just $7 all day, while bottles typically start from $25 onwards.
The food is pretty average, but the indoor and al fresco areas provide a casual setting to split that bottle of wine. Wine Connection usually gets pretty packed at night, so I’d advice making a reservation beforehand lest you have to leave Wine Connection high and dry.

18. Praelum
This is a personal favourite hangout when I’m in need of chilled out vibes, a decent wine and something yummy to eat. The wine list is extensive and thanks to the enomatic machines there are numerous reasonably priced options served by the glass. Service here is great and we also love their wine tasting events. Most recently they hosted a French wine fair, entry was $28 and 50 (yes, really) wines were available to taste. If that’s not a bargain I don’t know what it.
