2 killed, 3 severely hurt, in three-vehicle Kemaman crash

KEMAMAN: Two friends were killed and three others injured in a three-vehicle accident at km25 of Jalan Mak Lagam-Cheneh here, yesterday.

In the 2.30pm incident, a Toyota Harrier sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Mohd Hafeez Sulong, 25, skidded into the opposite lane and crashed into a motorcycle and a Ford Ranger four-wheel drive (4WD).

The impact catapulted the motorcycle off the road and into a ravine, killing both its passengers – Rosli Husin, 20, and Safie Yusof, 27

Mohd Hafeez sustained head and chest injuries, while the 4WD driver, farm supervisor Mohd Yusmali Mohd Yusoff, 51, sustained chest and leg injuries and his wife, Zaleha Abu Bakar, 49, fractured her left hand and ribs.

Confirming the accident, Kemaman police chief Supt Mohd Said Ibrahim said the bodies of Rosli and Safie were sent to the Kemaman Hospital for post-mortems.

The injured were sent to the same hospital. Mohd Hafeez was later transferred to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu for further treatment. -- BERNAMA
