JOHOR BARU: Three policemen, including an officer claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to five separate graft charges amounting to a total of RM20,000 in 2015 and 2016.
The accused were Isa Ahmad, 30, an inspector and constables Rhomarino Rafie, 33, and S Logeshvaran, 31.
Isa was charged with soliciting and accepting RM1,000 from a woman as an incentive to release a suspect from the lock-up.
Isa allegedly committed the offence at the Legal Advisor Office in Nusajaya (Iskandar Puteri) here at 3.30pm on December 23 in 2015.
Rhomarino meanwhile faced two charges of soliciting a total of RM17,000 from a woman to release a male suspect who was arrested on December 19, 2015.
He allegedly committed the offence at the Johor Baru Selatan police station and at an eatery near the police station between 2pm and 5pm on December 21, 2015.
Isa and Rhomarino were charged under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009 and can be punished under Section 24 of the same act.
Meanwhile Logeshvaran was charged with soliciting and accepting RM2,000 as an incentive not to harass and arrest foreign workers without work permits at a petrol kiosk in Taman Nusa Perintis, Gelang Patah at 2pm and 4pm on June 12 last year.
Both of Logeshvaran's offences were under Section 16 (a)(B) and Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.
