Two tricycle drivers linked to the brutal killing of a University of Santo Tomas graduate
in Cavite earlier this week were arrested on Friday morning, police said.
Police said the two suspects, who he said are brothers, "confessed" to the killing of Cyrish Magalang, and also admitted to taking drugs.
"Self-confessed sila. Umamin. Magkapatid sila. Isa, 24, isa, 27. Sabi nila nagte-take sila ng drugs," Bacoor, Cavite police head Superintendent Romano Cardino said in an interview on dzBB radio.
Magalang was found dead with 49 stab wounds in Bacoor in Cavite early Wednesday. She just graduated from the UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
She was found on a grassy area in Barangay Gawaran at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Cardino said they arrested the two at 6 a.m. Friday, after backtracking and talking to the officials of the local tricycle drivers' association.
He also said at least one witness surfaced and provided them with the needed leads.
"Merong lumutang na witness. Nakita ang biktima na sumakay sa tricycle. Na-identify ang tricycle (at) kinausap natin ang opisyal ng tricycle association," he said.
A separate report by dzBB's Sam Nielsen said the two suspects are undergoing interrogation. –KG, GMA News
