PUTRAJAYA: Mega job fairs will be held for job seekers at 11 Urban Transformation centres and four JobsMalaysia centres on May 20.
This was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the 2017 National Labour Day celebration today.
"We expect about 20,000 jobs will be up for grabs from 300 employers, he said.
Najib also urged employers to give priority to local job-seekers.
Based on a report titled 'Future of Jobs: Employment, Skills and Workforce Strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution' by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the prime minister stressed on the need to prepare itself to face changes that would greatly affect employees.
"There will be creation of new jobs that do not exist today and job displacements will occur.
"The WEF report has stated that 65 per cent of the world labour force, about 7.1 million jobs, will be displaced between 2015 and 2020 due to redundancy, automation and disintermediation," he said.
"We must prepare the country and the people from now to face such changes," he said.
