Unpopular opinion: I prefer winter over summer and fall over spring. This usually shocks people, but they don’t understand — I’m obsessed with sweater season.
Of course, the crisp air, fireplaces, holidays and warm cocktails are pretty great, too. But, let’s not forget about the sweaters. From cable knits and fair isles to embroideries and ruffles, chic sweater options absolutely run the gamut — and it’s thrilling.
If you like to dress for comfort like I do, cozy knits are the ultimate wardrobe essential. (Seriously — ask anyone who knows me what my “uniform” is, and I’ll wager that they say it’s a chunky sweater, leggings and boots.) Oversized knits are comfy enough to be pajamas and warm enough to be throw blankets, but we get to wear them in public.
You can dress ‘em up for work, a night out on the town or just to nap on the couch. And you don’t need to put them away when (my least favorite season) spring hits. They’ll make the perfect layer for when the office AC is blasting, too.
Not sold yet? Well, you can get high-quality, luxe-feeling knits that are soft rather than scratchy without breaking the bank, whenever you’re ready.
Below, find 20 sweaters that are cozy, chic and here to stay year-round. Happy sweater season!
