[20’s Choice Awards] - A Night of Festivities for Youths
Already in its sixth year, Mnet′s 20’s Choice Awards took place on June 28 at Seoul’s Banyan Tree Club and Spa the Oasis. In addition to Mnet, the awards ceremony was broadcasted on eight different channels (as well as streamed online) to allow fans all over the world to watch the ceremony.
Held at an outdoor swimming pool with bikini-clad beauties under the slogan, ‘Play and culture zone’, award recipients, nominees and guests could all come together for a fun-filled festival.
Architecture 101′s Lee Je Hoon and Suzy both took home awards in the ‘20’s Movie Star’ categories, while Jo Jeong Seok took home the ‘20’s Booming Star’ Award.
Following her win, Suzy came on stage as a solo artist to sing Because I Have Many Tears and was joined by ‘20’s Online Music’ award recipient Busker Busker on stage to sing Cherry Blossom Ending in a collaboration stage.
Singer and producer Park Jin Young also took home the award for the ‘Do Don’t Award′ while performance on stage. SISTAR continued the fervor with a sexy performance of Beyonce’s Diva, before singing its newest summer single Loving You. This was followed by 2PM’s Wooyoung unveiling his new solo performance for the first time.
Rising star Ailee also collaboared with indie artists Daybreak, Monni, and the Koxx.
Super Junior then beat out hallyu stars Kim Hyun Joong, Jang Keun Suk and others to win the coveted ‘20’s Global Star’, and thanked its fans. ‘20’s Click’ award went to Gian84 for the webtoon Fashion King, while the ‘20’s Sports Star’ went to soccer star Koo Ja Cheol.
The festival ended with a rock/electronic collaboration by YB and Koo Jun Yup.
Mnet′s 20’s Choice Awards was comprised of 20 different categories, with each winner determined by votes and polls by journalists, magazine editors, music directors and critics.
