2018: Stars who said "I do"

2 Jan – 2018 was the year the stars settled down - some decided to make it a grand affair, like celebrity couples Elanne Kong and Oscar Siu, and Christine Kuo and William Lok; while some chose to marry in secret, like Niki Chow and Chinese actor Fu Yiming, as well as Tiffany Tang and Luo Jin.

Here are some of the celebrities who decided to take their romance to the next level.

1. Gillian Chung and Michael Lai

The Hong Kong singer tied the knot with her Taiwanese beau in early December after more than a year of romance in a big star-studded event sponsored by her godfather and EEG big boss, Albert Yeung. Prior to their wedding, the couple held another lavish pre-wedding party in Los Angeles in May, so grand that people misunderstood it to be their official wedding banquet.

2. Grace Chan and Kevin Cheng

Nobody expected the couple to last given the age gap (Kevin is 45 when he started dating 23-year-old Grace in 2015) and the fact that Grace was just starting out in showbiz when they announced their romance.

But the couple pulled through, and held their destination wedding in Bali, Indonesia in August this year.

3. Etta Ng and Andi Autumn

Elaine Ng's daughter and her older girlfriend surprised many by announcing that they are married as they returned to Hong Kong several months after trying to build a career in Canada.

The marriage didn't come without its bad press, as the couple were later reported to have been evicted from their hostel for failing to pay rent.

4. Priscilla Wong and Edwin Siu

The couple got a shocked reaction and a standing ovation when Edwin decided to reveal that they are already married since April during his acceptance speech at the TVB Anniversary Awards.

The couple, who met filming "Madam Cutie on Duty" in 2014, later shared that they tied the knot during a romantic vacation in New Zealand, but couldn't find the right time to announce it following multiple marriage announcements that came in the following months.

5. Zanilia Zhao and Feng Shaofeng

The couple sparked marriage and pregnancy rumours when the Chinese actress decided to take a year off work at the peak of her television career, citing "health reasons". Despite denying it, she was often seen with her "The Monkey King 3" co-star since her hiatus, fuelling the rumours even further.

The couple finally decided to announce the good news on their Weibo accounts in mid-October, with a photo of their marriage license.

Other stars who tied the knot this year include Alyssa Shiou and Shiou Chieh-kai, Lala Hsu and Bill Chia, Cheryl Yang and non-showbiz boyfriend Ben Chen, as well as Ruco Chan and Phoebe Sin.
