97-year-old great-grandfather Jack Hearn has become a judo legend, by gaining his 10th dan.

Hearn was awarded the sport's highest honour after practicing the martial art for 70 years.

Jack, from Cramlington, Northumberland, is thought to be the oldest Judo Sensei master in the UK.

Jack is no stranger to combat, having served in the Second World War, and he went on to start his own judo club with his brother in 1954.

He has vowed to continue teaching judo, "as long as my body is able".
