Named after the precise temperature difference between a raw and well-done hamburger, Los Angeles’s 25 Degrees Burgers and Liquor Bar arrives in Singapore and is situated within the fine premises of Hotel G, at 200 Middle Road.

25 Degrees first opened in Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and has branches in Bangkok, Chicago, Macau and Huntington Beach. The cuisine concept? Funky American Burgers.

25 Degrees holds a classy and glamorous Hollywood charm that stems from its posh yet simplistic interior — burgundy wallpapered walls complemented with several vintage photographs, dark panelled wooden furnishings and an open-window concept in the day.

The 40-seat burger joint boasts a dedicated menu serving only five burgers, signature milkshakes (duh?), classic cocktails and more.

‘Number One’ Burger, $14

At $14, you can purchase Number One which comprises of their signature 200g USA Angus beef patty, caramelised onions, crescenza, prelibato gorgonzola, Canadian bacon, arugula and a drizzle of thousand island sauce.

I am not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted (and no, I’m not including those from the creepy looking red-haired clown). The beef patty was juicy and had a nice crust. It also contained a delicate hint of smokiness from the grill. This, paired with the creamy crescenza and sweet caramelised onions gave the burger a rather flavourful profile.

However, I felt that the strips of Canadian bacon should have its fats rendered even more; it lacks the distinctive crisp and crunch.

‘Number Two’ Burger, $14

Number Two ($14) comprises of a beef patty, roasted tomatoes, burrata, crispy prosciutto and pesto sauce.

The tanginess from the roasted tomatoes and pesto sauce plays decently well with the richness of the burrata. With these many ingredients of Italian origin, it is no wonder Number Two is commonly dubbed as their Italian Burger.

‘Number Three’ Burger, $14

Dubbed as a Mexican Burger, Number Three (S$14) contains a beef patty, mezzo secco jack, green chilli, chipotle and avocado. This Mexican Burger packs an initial punch from the saltiness and spiciness of the green chilli and chipotle, which is later soothed by the creaminess of the avocado.

The Lunch Special S$18) featuring ‘Number Four’

You can also opt for their $18 Lunch Special, which essentially comprises of one of the four signature burgers (excluding the Veggie Burger), french fries and half a pint of beer or soda. The Lunch Set is only available from Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm. Do note that the burgers served are relatively smaller in size.

Number Four comprises of a yellowfish tuna patty, butter lettuce, crispy fried onions and spicy aioli. The tuna patty, despite being slightly tough, was bursting with umami especially since it contained hints of bonito flakes and seaweed. Not to mention, the patty wasn’t overly fishy.

Oftentimes, the buns make or break the dish. That’s another thing about 25 Degrees, the buns are fluffy and served warm. One bite into it brings forth a subtle sweetness.

What’s true authentic American comfort food dining without its milkshakes? 25 Degrees serves these sugary delights — marshmallow, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry at $10. You can also opt for the maltshakes for S$12.

Banana and Walnut waffles (S$13)

For dessert, I had the Banana and Walnut waffles ($13). The waffles weren’t overly sweetened and had a nice fluff to it. This paired with the walnuts and sliced banana gave the dessert a good flavour contrast. I guess this is one dish I can eat every day for breakfast (or dessert) and never get tire of it.

Drop by 25 Degrees Burgers and Liquor Bar for the authentic American comfort food dining experience. Trust me, you’ll be in for a jolly, good time.
