SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 25 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on Monday (12 April), taking the country's total case count to 60,678.

All 25 new cases are imported. "Amongst the new cases today, 20 are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while five were symptomatic," said the MOH.

Among the 25 imported cases, five are Singaporeans and two are permanent residents who returned from Canada, India, Indonesia and the UK. Three Singaporeans – aged between 20 and 72 – are among Monday's five symptomatic cases.

Four others are work pass holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India and Nepal. A 28-year-old male work pass holder who arrived from Bangladesh is Monday's fourth symptomatic case.

Eleven cases are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India and the Philippines.

The remaining three cases are short-term visit pass holders, of whom two, including a nine-year-old girl, arrived from India to visit their family members who are PRs. The third short-term visit pass holder – a 42-year-old man who is Monday's fifth symptomatic case – arrived from the US for a work project here.

The ministry noted that the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at two per week in the past two weeks. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also remained stable at two per week in the past two weeks.

On Sunday, a 23-year-old Indian migrant worker who completed his COVID-19 vaccination doses in February was confirmed as a case in Singapore.

99% of total cases have recovered, 1 in ICU

With 22 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Monday, 60,357 cases – or 99.5 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 56 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while one of them is in the intensive care unit.

A total of 235 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from the 30 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.

Among the 183 confirmed cases reported from 6 to 12 April, 75 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 85 have tested negative, and 23 serology test results are pending.
