KAJANG: Twenty-nine men, including a 'Datuk', were jointly-charged at the sessions court here today for being members of the organised crime group “Geng 360 Devan.”
The accused, aged between 21 and 61, nodded in understanding when the charges were read by a translator before Judge Noridah Adam.
They were M. Mohan, P. Subramaniam, S. Ravindran, S. Raman, R. P. Ponniah, E. Shanmuhanathan, A. Karpanah, J. J. Jignasevaran, R. Prem Raj, V. Arivalagan, R. Suresh Kumar, M. Thananbalan, Datuk M. Kalai Arasu, M. Saravanan, R. Sundran, A. K. R. Erethai Pragash, T. Ravendaran, M. Danes, S. Siveneswaran, V. A. R. Vigny Alfred Raj, R. Subramaniam, R. Kannan, M. Saravanan, M. Jayakumar, P. Karthik, I. Ravindran, S. Krishna, Mohamad Sarif Abd Karim and R. Yogendran.
No pleas were recorded.
They were all charged under Section 130V of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 20 years’ jail upon conviction.
According to the charge sheet, they are alleged to be members of Gang 360 Devan, and were arrested at the MV Empayer Sdn Bhd, at No 1, Jalan Perniagaan Masria 1, Pusat Perniagaan Masria, Batu 9, Cheras, on Feb 11 this year.
The case will be brought to the Shah Alam High Court and tried under the Security Offences and Special Measures Act (Sosma).
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P. Kunyalam prosecuted, and 25 of the 29 men were represented.
The court has fixed April 18 for mention.
