KOTA KINABALU: The Umno Flag Run sprints into its second day in Sabah with a dash along the east coast of the state.

Held in conjunction with Umno’s 71st anniversary, the second leg of the Sabah run kicked-off at Bengkoka square in Pitas at 8am and will pass through Beluran and Sandakan.

Joined by members of the Wanita, Puteri and Pemuda wings, the race is expected to end in Libaran, Sandakan, at about 6pm. Participants from each division spent about one hour taking part in the event.

Yesterday, Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak flagged off about 300 participants from the Sepanggar division, with the race continued by other division members all the way until Kudat.

The programme will continue tomorrow, with participants spurting through Kinabatangan, Semporna and Tawau.

On Friday, the Umno flag, which is being carried throughout the five-day run, will be handed to State Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman, at UiTM Sabah, here.
