SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed three new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of Monday (26 October), taking its total case count to 57,973.

All three new cases are asymptomatic and were proactively detected, said the MOH.

Of them, one resides in a foreign worker dormitory and was detected from the bi-weekly rostered routine testing of workers, while two are imported.

Of the two imported cases, one is a one-year-old girl, a dependant’s pass holder, who arrived from the United Arab Emirates, while the other is a 21-year-old man, a student’s pass holder, who arrived from France.

Both have been placed on the stay-home notice upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice.

The MOH also noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased from four in the week before, to two in the past week.

It added that the number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at two cases a week in the past two weeks.

The ministry also added four Orchard Road shopping malls, among several additions, to a list of places visited by community cases while infectious.

99% of total cases have recovered; none in ICU

With 21 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Monday, 57,879 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 43 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while none is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 23 patients with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 28 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
