Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat will be a busy woman over the coming months.
Not only was Phogat revealed as one of the eight mixed martial artists who will compete in the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix beginning in May, but she will also appear as a guest athlete on “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition,” which premieres in Asia this Thursday, 18 March.
Before the Singapore-based Indian appears on the toughest version of “The Apprentice” yet, let’s look at three reasons why she’ll be a great guest on the hit reality TV show.
#1 TV Runs Through Her Bloodline
Phogat, a 2016 Commonwealth Wrestling Champion, is no stranger to fame.
In fact, the movie “Dangal” was based on the life of her father, Mahavir Singh Phogat, himself a wrestler and Olympic coach.
On “The Apprentice,” however, the budding Indian mixed martial artist will be looking to tell her own story – one that will include pushing the 16 candidates to their physical limits.
#2 A Star In The Making
Let’s face it: “The Indian Tigress” has star power.
After all of her fights in the ONE Championship Circle – most of which she finishes before the final bell – her stock goes up.
The undefeated mixed martial artist currently has over 300,000 followers on Instagram alone, and it’s safe to say that number will steadily increase during the airing of “The Apprentice.”
#3 Will Appear Alongside A Potential Opponent
Phogat will make her reality TV show debut alongside another guest athlete – reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee.
What makes this so interesting is that Phogat is now slated to compete in the aforementioned Atomweight World Grand Prix, with the winner getting a shot at Lee’s gold later this year.
If that doesn’t make for good TV, nothing will.
Catch the first episode of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” by tuning in to AXN this Thursday, 18 March, at 8:50 p.m. SGT or Mediacorp on 24 March at 11 p.m.
