4 ASG members killed in Sulu encounter

SULU, Philippines — The 64th Marine Company, Marines Special Operations Group (MSOG) had an encounter with the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Barangay Lumipad ,Talipao, Maimbung, Sulu before dawn yesterday.

Killed in the encounter were four members of the ASG faction headed by sub-leader Idang Susukan.

During the clearing operation, high-caliber firearms were recovered including two units of M16 and two units of M203.

The AFP has pursuit operations underway against the ASG in accordance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s mandate to intensify even more pursuit operations against the bandit group and to rescue its remaining captives.

“We have recovered five high-caliber firearms plus grenade launchers. We are gaining grounds. The Abu Sayyaf are on the run. We are starting to neutralize them one after the other,” said Col. Cirilito Sobejana, Jr., Joint Task Force Sulu commander. — Dante Amento | UNTV News and Rescue
