Barangay Sibayan, Bansalan, Davao del Sur
Authorities are in pursuit of alleged members of the New People’s Army suspected to have killed four policemen in an ambush in Davao del Sur on Wednesday morning.
Five Davao policemen were on their way to respond to a murder incident in Barangay Sinabyan when suspected members of the New People’s Army ambushed them.
One of them was able to call for help using his mobile phone while in the middle of a gunfire.
Reported dead on the spot are:
- Po1 Rolly Benelayo
- Po1 Joe Narvaza
- Po1 Saro Mangutara
- Po3 Jayden May Rabor
While PO3 Allen Arnado was reported wounded and brought to a nearby hospital.
Initial investigation shows that Guerilla Front 51 of the NPA is operating in Davao del Sur.
“We will still establish, but by experience no one in our security forces would do that. No one else has the capability to do such a thing”, said PCSupt. Marcelo Morales
PNP is also investigating Sibayan Barangay Captain Eddie Dicdican, who sent for the police about a murder.
“The murder case happened the night before but the police waited until morning because the area in question was too dark. It seemed likely that people were killed there because intel operatives went to the area to verify the incident”, P/CSupt. Morales said.
The police are now investigating the incident and looking for suspects in the crime.
PNP headquarters condoles with the families of the victims and condemns the killing of their colleagues.
“It is sad that this thing needs to happen to those policemen”, PNP spokesperson PSSupt. Diosnardo Carlos said. — Grace Casin |UNTV News & Rescue
