460 Youth From J&K, Ladakh Join Elite JAK Light Infantry Regiment

A total of 460 comprehensively trained recruits belonging to the regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh joined the army after their attestation parade at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) centre on Saturday.

The Commandant Officers Training Academy, Chennai and Colonel of JAKLI regiment Lt Gen M K Das reviewed the attestation parade of recruit course serial number 126.

He extended his congratulations to the young soldiers for their ‘immaculate parade’ and appreciated their contribution towards encouraging more youth from the union territories to join the security forces.

Lt Gen Das even stressed upon the role played by the parents in motivating their children towards taking part in this noble profession.

Lt Gen Das even felicitated the recruits for their excellence in several facets of their training process.

Recruit Peer Sartaj Ahmed Wani was accorded with the Triveni Singh Medal and the Sher-e-Kashmir Sword of Honour for being selected as the ‘Overall Best Recruit’.

Similarly, the ‘Best in Firing’ award of Chewang Rinchen Medal was given to the recruit Amandeep Singh Chib, Economic Times reports.

Meanwhile, the Maqbool Sherwani Medal and the Bana Singh Medal was given to recruits Parmeet Sharma and Mohammed Asad respectively. These awards were concerned around individuals who were the ‘Best in Physical Training’ and ‘Best in Drills’ separately.
