Singapore Airlines pilot to be charged over New Zealand car crash

Five Singapore Airlines crew members were injured, two seriously, in a two-vehicle crash in New Zealand on Wednesday.
 
They were traveling in Christchurch when the car they were in collided with a vehicle towing a horse float at a road intersection in the Canterbury area.
 
According to a Singapore Airlines spokesman, the five crew members are currently in hospital for treatment. Two are believed to be seriously injured, and one is in critical condition.
 
“Our immediate concern is for the welfare of our staff and we shall accord them and their families the highest standard of care and assistance,” the spokesman said in a statement to Yahoo! Singapore.
 
The New Zealand Herald reported that the horse being towed was unharmed in the accident.
 
According to the Herald, there have been several serious crashes, some fatal in the region over the past two weeks.
