€50m Klopp ‘request’ convinced of ‘key role’ for Liverpool as he ‘asks’ club to sanction transfer
Ryan Gravenberch will ask Bayern Munich to let him leave for Liverpool this summer as he’s been convinced of a ‘key role’ under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Gravenberch, who moved to Bayern for £17m last summer having earned rave reviews for his displays for Ajax, has started just two Bundesliga games in his debut campaign.
And the lack of game time led Gravenberch to admit last month that he “really wants to play weekly again” and that his situation “has to change next season”.
“In the beginning, of course, I had to get used to it here, a new environment,” Gravenberch told VI.
“Everything is much faster, sometimes even training sessions felt like competitions.
“It’s a top European club, you can’t miss a thing, but I feel like that ‘getting used to it’ has been behind me for a while now.
“Training and playing at the top level for a year is beautiful and instructive. I say playing, but it’s mainly training.
“That has to change next season, then I really want to play weekly again. I haven’t spoken to the club management yet, so just wait and see what happens. But it’s clear that this role does not match my expectations.”
A report claims Bayern will tell Gravenberch in that meeting that he’s going nowhere but the 21-year-old will make clear his desire to leave for Liverpool.
Fichajes (via Sport Witness) claim Gravenberch is a ‘request from Klopp’ as he looks to rebuild his midfield and the Dutch international has reportedly been convinced he’s set for a ‘key role’ under the German manager.
Gravenberch is one of the ‘first reinforcements’ Liverpool want in the window, and could join Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister in a new look midfield, with Chelsea star Mason Mount also a target.
A recent report claimed Liverpool, along with Newcastle, are ‘ready to shell out €50m’ for Gravenberch, with Erik ten Hag, his manager at Ajax, also interested in brining him to Manchester United.
