To meet the needs of Singaporeans, the housing board on Thursday launched 5,293 flats for sale under its September Build-to-Order (BTO) exercise. They comprise 4,156 new flats in six projects in Punggol and Yishun as well as 1,137 units of balance two-room flats from previous BTO exercises that will be available for singles. A wide range of flats are being offered, from studio apartments to five-room and 3Gen flats. Launched for the first time, the 84 units of 3Gen flats at Saraca Breeze @ Yishun will cater to multi-generation families. Located near Khatib MRT station, the flats are about 115 sq m in size and each comes with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. HDB will also implement the enhanced Multi-Generation Priority Scheme (MGPS). Previously the scheme allowed parents applying for a studio apartment or two-room flat to submit a joint application with their married child applying for a two-room or bigger flat in the same BTO project. However with immediate effect, parents can also apply for a three-room flat. Meanwhile, first-timer families will continue to receive priority flat allocation with prices starting from as low as S$21,000 for a two-bedroom unit, inclusive of housing grants.Applications for this exercise close on 2 October.
