MANILA — More than fifty houses were affected as fire flareD up in Alabang, Muntinlupa on Wednesday.  The tower of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) was also affected by the fire.

More than 80 families living in Kilometer 25, NAPOCOR, Alabang, Muntinlupa City were worried after their houses were burnt down at around 9:00 am yesterday.

The fire victims said most of them were not able to save any clothes because the fire quickly spread.

The burnt houses were made of light materials and were tightly packed.

“Walang natira sa gamit po namin ubos lahat.  Ubos lahat ang gamit namin walang nadala. Sa amin walang jumper jan, dito nagsimula. Di namin alam kung sa pagsasaing nila (Nothing was left. We were not able to save anything. There was no “jumper”. The fire began here),” said resident, Joel Sumacad.

We were inside the house, watching TV. We noticed that children were running. When we checked, the fire was already big. I just brought my children with me).

The tower of The National Grid Corporation ff the Philippines or NGCP was also affected by the fire incident.

The tower’s foundation melted, causing it to lean dangerously. It is being supported only by power cables  which prevented the tower from collapsing all the way.

Alabang Toll Plaza Northbound was also slightly affected by the fire incident.

The fire, which has reached second alarm, was declared out by the Bureau of Fire Protection at around 9:15 a.m.

Meanwhile, the fire victims said they were supposed to relocate last March after the NGCP talked to them in November. However, they asked for an extension because they have not found a place to transfer to.

The NGCP personnel have begun replacing the foundation of the tower that melted.

The BFP continues to investigate the cause of the fire. —  Sherwin Culubong | UNTV News & Rescue
