7 startups in paradise: Check out the companies pitching at Geeks On A Beach next week
Geeks On A Beach pulled startups from the Phillipines, Singapore, Cambodia and the Netherlands
Geeks On A Beach, the year’s best opportunity for Asia’s startup community to chill on a tropical island — and work of course — kicks off next week in the Philippines. Today, the organisers announced the seven startups pitching in the event’s competition.
The companies will pitch for three minutes each to the following panel of judges:
Diane Eustaquio, Executive Director, IdeaSpace Foundation
Monchito Ibrahim, Innovation Consultant, DICT
Arup Maity, President, Blast Asia and Xamun
Khailee Ng, Managing Partner, 500 Startups
Francis Oliva, Head of Community Partnerships, PLDT Smart SME Nation
Tong Hsien Hui, Investment Director, Infocomm Investment
Marc Nager, Chief Community Officer, TechStars
The winning team will receive US$1,000 along with mentoring and consulting from industry experts.

AnnualBooks — Philippines
An all-in-one yearbook platform that can also help educators build school newspapers. The service has integrated features such as collaboration, grading and an alumni database tool.
engageSPARK — Philippines
A company helping businesses build text and voice messaging campaigns, engageSPARK is a social enterprise with the goal of helping people get the word out about natural disasters and public health related information. It also aims at a non-techie consumer base in order to facilitate the largest impact possible.
Grow360 — Singapore
A platform to help personal professional development by getting feedback from colleagues. The idea is to use the service to receive actionable assessments and facilitate discussion by breaking down barriers that make it uncomfortable for people to offer observations to coworkers.
iUNGOCorp — Netherlands
An energy management system helping home owners, businesses, and utility providers to manage consumption. The goal is to help customers make energy adjustments with intelligent and informed information.
Liser Robotics — Philippines
This company has built a robot with the intention of helping kids learn how to code. It uses the MiniBloQ programming language in the style of Scratch — which means it is a visual programming language focussed on ‘building block’ concepts rather than specifics.
Looking Four — Philippines
Instead of consumers going to a marketplace in search whatever they want to buy, Looking Four wants to flip the script. Buyers on the platform post what they are seeking and sellers take the initiative by offering them their items. It helps potential shoppers by allowing them to post the desired good and move on with the busy day ahead.
TrustMyStaff — Cambodia
A platform to help companies test potential employment candidate to find if they are a good personality fit. It uses a psychological measurement test to help companies make the ideal hire.
