The creator of the webcomic JL8, Yale Stewart, said that Filipinos are the second largest group within his readership, second only to the US. So the comic artist is offering a Haiyan-themed wallpaper featuring his DC-inspired characters, in exchange for a $1 donation to a UNICEF fund meant for Yolanda / Haiyan relief.

Australian telco Telstra has made all voice calls and text messages to the Philippines free until November 25, 6AM (Australia time).

Competitor Optus has also provided free calls and texts to the Philippines, until November 17. The company has also provided free credit for customers who frequently call the Philippines.

Both are perfect for Filipinos based in Australia who are trying to call home for information and assurance.
