In the middle of tragedy, every little effort counts. Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) has affected many Filipinos who desperately need our help. Here are 8 organizations that are contributing to the efforts.

The creator of the webcomic JL8, Yale Stewart, said that Filipinos are the second largest group within his readership, second only to the US. So the comic artist is offering a Haiyan-themed wallpaper featuring his DC-inspired characters, in exchange for a $1 donation to a UNICEF fund meant for Yolanda / Haiyan relief.
Telstra-Optus-78 Organizations Who are Helping Yolanda / Haiyan Victims
Australian telco Telstra has made all voice calls and text messages to the Philippines free until November 25, 6AM (Australia time).
Competitor Optus has also provided free calls and texts to the Philippines, until November 17. The company has also provided free credit for customers who frequently call the Philippines.
Both are perfect for Filipinos based in Australia who are trying to call home for information and assurance.
Viber-68 Organizations Who are Helping Yolanda / Haiyan Victims
Filipino users of the messaging app can place calls to landlines outside the country for free. That’s a wonderful addition to their already free Viber-to-Viber chat and call service, and should help relatives with access to signal and electricity update worried loved ones abroad.

The Filipino eSports team and Taiwanese PC hardware manufacturer promised cash for the typhoon victims. Mineski is currently hosting a regional video game tournament, and said that all ticket sales will be given to charity, an announcement that led to GIGABYTE adding in $1,000 of their own.

The Singaporean telco has credited free calls and texts to its Filipino subscribers based in that country, and has promised to waive all fees for its remittance service until November 17.

The American financial giant has said that all commissions generated from its trading activities in the ASEAN region will be donated straight to the Philippine Red Cross. The fees the bank charges when executing financial transactions on behalf of clients is one of the company’s primary sources of revenue.

The “Hari ng Padala” has in effect donated its logistical and delivery services, accepting relief goods for Yolanda through any of its branches worldwide.

Perhaps every Filipino knows about the National Basketball Association, the basketball league that remains an unrealized dream for many Pinoy athletes. Whatever the case, the organization and its respective players union (the NBA Players Association) will make the dreams for many typhoon victims come true, thanks to a $250,000 donation to UNICEF. A subsequent donation to another charity is forthcoming.
