These are way warmer than jeans
After a few years in Southern California, this is my first winter back on the East Coast and I am playing no games when it comes to staying warm: From socks to coats, each layer will be painstakingly evaluated for its ability to trap heat.
Seeking out cozy pants that don’t look like frumpy pajama bottoms has been my latest mission. And I have good news because there are a lot of stylish sweater pants, fleece-lined flares, and other comfy, stretchy things to choose from.
Whether you’re headed into the office, enjoying a holiday party, or just lounging with friends, there’s a pair of winter-friendly pants for you.
Cozy Winter Pants Starting at $19
Three lengths: Old Navy High-Waisted Fleece-Lined Wide-Leg Leggings, $18.49 (orig. $26.99); oldnavy.gap.com
Old Navy High-Waisted Fleece-Lined Wide-Leg Leggings
The price can not be beaten on these Old Navy fleece-lined leggings, which easily pass for pants thanks to the wide-leg silhouette and weighty fabric. They also offer a ton of sizing options, with three inseam lengths available (regular, petite, and tall) in sizes XS–4X.
Choose from black, navy, gray, or cream, some of which are already selling out in select sizes. Again, that price!
Acelitt Wide-Leg Knit Pants
These long, drapey sweater pants could easily be worn out of the house with the right styling (try a turtleneck, wool coat, and leather boots). The vertical lines of the wide rib knit paired with the high rise give a leg-lengthening illusion and, bonus points, they have pockets. Plus, they come in five wear-with-everything colors like black and navy.
Lululemon Groove Super High-Rise Flared Pants
FYI, Lululemon has a lot of pants and leggings marked down right now. These second-skin flares aren’t made for the elements, but they would be cozy at home with a chunky sweater and your favorite slippers. Ten colors are up to 58 percent off right now, in sizes 0–20.
Don’t suffer in jeans this winter. Stock up on warm pants now and thank me in February.
