9 F&B premises penalised for breaching safe management measures
SINGAPORE — Nine food and beverage premises have been penalised for breaching Safe Management Measures, said the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) on Monday (29 March).
Six of these premises have been ordered to close for 10 days, while the remaining three have been issued composition fines, said MSE in a news release. The breaches were discovered during government agencies' checks on F&B establishments, malls and other public spaces.
"Even with our vaccination programme underway, and the resumption of more activities, the risks of COVID-19 community transmission remains. It is particularly important to mitigate the risks at F&B establishments through strict compliance with safe distancing and safe management measures, as patrons are unmasked for long periods of time," said the ministry.
The penalised premises are:
Club Mao by Barcode: This venue at Oriental Plaza was found to have not minimised physical interactions between staff and customers by hosting groups of customers at different tables on 19 March. The venue was issued an order by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to close for 30 days from 20 March to 18 April. The venue was previously ordered to close on 12 December due to breaches of the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020. Three customers at the venue were also fined $300 each for failing to keep a one-metre distance when mingling with customers from another group. Investigations are ongoing into other possible SMM breaches at the venue.
Club Bubbery Pte Ltd: This venue at Oriental Plaza, which operates under the name Club Nexus KTV, was found to have not minimised physical interactions between staff and customers by hosting groups of customers across different tables on 19 March. STB has ordered the operator to close the venue from 20 March to 29 March.
De Luxy: This venue at Bugis Cube was found to have allowed customers to consume alcohol after 10.30pm on 24 February. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) has ordered the operator to close the venue from 20 March to 29 March.
Kiss Bistro: This venue at Boat Quay was also found to have allowed customers to consume alcohol after 10.30pm on 19 March. URA has ordered the venue to be closed from 21 March to 30 March.
SK Karaoke Pub: This venue at Joo Chiat was also found to have allowed customers to consume alcohol after 10.30pm on 19 March. URA has ordered the venue to be closed from 21 March to 30 March.
Steamov Restaurant: This venue on Beach Road was also found to have allowed customers to consume alcohol after 10.30pm on 19 March. URA has ordered the venue to be closed from 21 March to 30 March.
Destiny Japanese KTV Pub Pte Ltd: This venue at Cuppage Plaza was fined $2,000 for providing games to customers on 20 March. F&B establishments are currently not allowed to provide games to customers if they are not also an amusement centre. The venue was previously fined for breach of SMMs.
Chinatown Seafood Restaurant: This venue on Trengganu Street, also known as Ba Dao Guan, was fined $2,000 for failing to minimise interaction between staff and customers on 20 March. The venue was also previously fined for breaching SMMs.
Alankar Restaurant: This venue on Dunlop Street was fined $1,000 for seating different groups of customers less than one metre apart on 24 March.
