900,000 Singaporean HDB households to get GST U-Save rebate of up to $100 in January
About 900,000 Singaporean HDB households will get the next instalment of the GST Voucher – Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebate of up to $100 depending on their HDB flat type this month, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Wednesday (2 January).
As announced in Budget 2018, eligible households will get an additional $20 per year ($5 per quarter) for 3 years, from 2019 to 2021.
Disbursed every three months, the U-Save rebate helps HDB households to offset part of their utilities bills. The expenditure on U-Save rebates – one of three components under the GST Voucher scheme – is expected to total around $300 million in 2019, the MOF said in a statement.
Annually, the rebate is equivalent to about three to four months of utilities bills for households living in 1- and 2-room HDB flats and about one to two months of their utilities bills for those living in 3- and 4-room HDB flats.
