930,000 HDB households to get S&CC rebates this year

The collected S&CC are used by town councils to maintain and upgrade HDB estates in Singapore.

Around 930,000 qualified Singaporean households living in HDB flats can look forward to receiving Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) rebates this year, according to Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat when announcing the 2019 Budget on Monday (18 Feb).

He said the Singapore government plans to allocate $132 million to provide S&CC rebates for another year. In particular, Singaporean households can receive rebates of 1.5 to 3.5 months worth of charges.

The collected S&CC are used by town councils to maintain and upgrade HDB estates. These include hiring cleaners and pest control, in addition to a portion that goes to a sinking fund for replacing old lifts or maintaining existing ones.

Meanwhile, Heng revealed that the authorities intend to increase the Public Transport Fund by $10 million to help people who need assistance in their commuting costs.
