Kuala Lumpur (The Star/ANN) - The local fashion industry is abuzz over the annual Malaysia International Fashion Week (MIFW).
Organised by Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (Mifa), MIFW kicked off yesterday with a vibrant showcase entitled The New Faces Of Yoda.
Featured were new and aspiring couturiers from the Young Designers Areana (Yoda) such as Danial Arif, Mohd Nizam, Tan Phaik Imm, Kok Leong Vee, Teo Chun Keat and Wong Sek Li.
This year, MIFW, which is into its ninth edition, is held at Zebra Square, an exclusive lifestyle venue at Jalan Kampung Pandan here. It concludes on Sunday.
"This venue offers us the flexibility to propose a greater number of activities during the week and provides maximum visibility to our partners," said Mifa chairman Heah Sieu Lay.
One of the highlights is the Asia Magic Gala on Thursday. Presented by the official logistics partner of MIFW Logwin, it features Asian designers such as Ashley Isham, Nue by Jonathan Liang, Lee Khoon Hooi and Gallo. Actress Lee Sinje will also present her fashion brand Cacac.
Other evening galas are the spring/summer showcase by Bernard Chandran and Melium Gala, featuring brands like YSL, Emilio Pucci and Farah Khan.
