SHAH ALAM: Actor and road safety activist Lando Zawawi has landed himself in hot soup with the authorities after he chained and locked the gate of Petaling District and Land Office in Section U5 here on Thursday. The man's action, done in a protest against what he claimed as the government department's failure to provide safe road condition to the public, also saw his pregnant wife and a friend being locked up. Selangor police Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said the three were arrested at the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters last night (Friday) after giving their statements to police. "The suspects were arrested following a report lodged by the District and Land Office. We are investigating the case under Section 324 and 506 of the Penal Code for wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation. "For now, the three are being detained for 24 hours to facilitate the probe," he said, adding that police would only request for remand order if they find a need to. Lando, whose full name was Azlan Sani Zawawi, had on Thursday gone to the office together with his group of road activists called 'The Brotherhood' to show their protest over poor road condition at Persiaran Atmosfera there. Video of Lando's action of locking the office gate while making a statement had since gone viral on social media, having been shared from Lando's Facebook page almost 2,000 times. In the video, Lando was recorded as saying that he decided to lock the office's gate due to the government department's alleged failure to take action despite its office being situated at the roadside. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
