Actress Rebecca Lim's fiancé revealed as Matthew Webster, who's into music and his Porsche
SINGAPORE — Newly engaged actress Rebecca Lim has revealed her fiancé's face in an Instagram post, when she had previously said that he preferred to maintain his privacy. Lim posted a photo of the two of them holding hands with him nuzzling his forehead against her head.
With that, his identity has been revealed as Matthew Webster. His LinkedIn page shows that he is an Assistant Vice President for Branding & Media at port operator PSA Singapore, and a Monash University journalism graduate.
He has two Instagram accounts, one for his music and one for his Porsche.
"We are humbled and grateful for the overwhelming love and support shown towards us, and for your heartfelt well wishes," Lim wrote in her post on 21 November. "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts❤️"
The new photo appears to be from their engagement on 12 November. He had proposed to her at a gallery filled with silver and white balloons.
Lim had earlier posted photos of the engagement which did not show her husband-to-be's face.
Lim had initially shared that he is 35 years old, the same age as her, and works in corporate branding.
Lim also told Chinese newspaper Lianhe Zaobao that he grew up in Singapore and is of mixed parentage – his father is British and his mother is Chinese.
The couple kept Webster's identity under wraps at first because he was not used to the public attention that celebrities receive. However, Lim had told CNA Lifestyle, "I said to him, 'I would really want everyone to know who you are because I’m proud to have you as my other half and really want to share my joy with everyone who's been so happy for me.' But as I've been so overwhelmed the past couple of days, and so is he, I'm just slowly introducing him into my world. I definitely would want to (reveal who he is) but, one step at a time."
The couple plan to hold their wedding next year.
Lim had met Webster only early this year – a family friend introduced them at a dinner gathering.
He apparently did not watch local television and had not even known that Lim was a celebrity – he had to look her up on Wikipedia to find out that she was an actress. He has since begun watching her TV shows such as the recent Channel 5 drama This Land Is Mine.
